Manchester City make a five-year contract extension with Stones. Manchester City are set to announce a five-year contract extension for England defender John Stones at the same salary as Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool.

The Athletic reported on Monday that John Stones has agreed a new contract with Manchester City until 2026. That replacing the remaining one with just one year left.

Previously, Stones’ future was uncertain. But he was able to return to good form last season with a strong pairing of Ruben Dias that led the team to reclaim the Premier League title. And He helped the England national team to the finals of the Euro 2020 past.

The 27-year-old centre-back’s new contract, who has been at the Blues since 2016. So he will earn £250,000-a-week (£13m-a-year), similar to Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.
